Aidan

Aidan Turner (born 19 June 1983)[1][2] is an Irish actor. He is best known for his roles as Kíli in the three-part fantasy film The Hobbit[3][4] and John Mitchell in the supernatural drama series Being Human.[5][6] Notable television roles include playing Dante Gabriel Rossetti in Desperate Romantics,[7] and Ruairí McGowan in The Clinic.[8] He also portrayed Luke Garroway in the film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones in 2013. Turner has been cast as Ross Poldark in the new 2015 BBC adaptation of The Poldark Novels by Winston Graham.

CareerEdit

Turner graduated from The Gaiety School of Acting in 2004. After this, he appeared in several theatre plays, including The Plough and the Stars, Romeo and Juliet, and A Cry from Heaven.[9][10]

Turner's television acting career began in 2007 with a guest appearance on The Tudors.[11] He continued his television career on Desperate Romantics, playing Dante Gabriel Rossetti.[12][13] Between 2008 and 2009, he appeared in a recurring role as Ruairí McGowan on The Clinic.[14] followed by playing the vampire John Mitchell on the supernatural drama programme Being Human during the first three series.[15][16][17]

His film career began with two short films, The Sound of People and Matterhorn, both in 2007. He later played Mal in the thriller feature film Alarm (2008).[18][19]

Turner plays the dwarf Kíli in Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy (2012–2014). In 2013, he also played shadowhunter-turned-werewolf Luke Garroway in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

Turner will be portraying Ross Poldark in the revival of the old BBC One series Poldark.

Turner was born in Dublin, Ireland. As of September 2014, Turner was dating actress and model Sarah Greene.
